Home of the Pineapple Portraits

Welcome, to a photography experience unlike any other.

At Buku Photos we believe that all people have something to bring to the table, and when given the space to create, can create magic. It is important to us to hold a safe space, for all of our clients, in which we can capture their true selves and achieve the same goal together. We are constantly striving to create collaboratively and with intention.

The pineapple represents togetherness, for us that means bringing artists together. It is a reminder to us to share the wealth that is creation, and to revel in the richness of the creative minds of others.

Come create with us.

About Us…

Buku Photo was the brain baby of our founder Caleb Barnhart. Caleb came to the idea of using the pineapple to represent Buku’s work while covering the Bonaroo music festival in 2018. He wanted to bring something fun and memorable to the table, so while he walked around, photographing the festival, he brought a pineapple with him to toss to subjects to pose with. Thus the Pineapple Portraits were born and Caleb became “that pineapple photographer”. Caleb met our other owner and director, Natasha Anderson, through the photography network in Raleigh, North Carolina. They began working on projects more frequently together and soon decided to become a team. Working together was better. Caleb and Natasha have been running Buku Photo together since 2019. Buku has worked on festivals, music video sets, hosted various mini sessions and workshops, covered weddings and surprise engagements, helped artists create multiple album covers and have been published in digital and print.

And it’s only the beginning.
